Already during my teenage years I went to yoga class in the city center of The Hague, with Corry Koot. From the beginning I have been able to enjoy the atmosphere in yoga classes and without being able to name what it was now, I understood that this undercurrent was essential for me to be able to stay with myself.

I have continued to practice yoga intermittently throughout my life, in addition to study and work; and eventually the realization came that yoga in a broad sense was so important to me that I wanted to do more with it. I started the four-year Saswitha Training for Yoga and Philosophy and after three basic years I completed the practical part with the specialization prenatal yoga.

I also followed modules in Ayurvedic Massage, Breathing Therapy and Yoga for the Elderly and I teach Hatha yoga classes. In addition to yoga, I am involved in the Center for Mindfulness The Hague and have followed training courses in mindfulness, compassion and nonviolent/connecting communication.

I myself am the mother of a beautiful daughter Meike.

The vision behind prenatal yoga has touched me deeply and I like to teach (future) mothers about how they can experience pregnancy more consciously from their body using the breath. Yoga is about your own experience, in the here and now. If you can surrender to this, this brings a deeper connection with her body for both the pregnant woman and also promotes a safe feeling at home for the baby in the belly and thus lays an important basis for living in trust.

“The mother is the whole universe to the child; it is therefore very important that the (future) mother is doing well” is my favorite statement and my goal is to contribute to this in the prenatal yoga classes!
